“Using the present moment as a living laboratory” – an expression in a book I’m currently reading got me to stop and ponder how much truth indeed lies in this very statement. A moment-by-moment engagement with the present moment is our only true dimension, possession and experimental field for any sort of development to spring and flourish in our inner landscape. No need to wait around for grand events, staged strategies, awe-provoking interventions and deep “aha” moments of enlightenment – it all begins in the now, in the surrender of ordinary situations found in everyday moments. The change you may wish for in your life can only begin to occur when you give up your obsession with change; in the very acceptance of the “as is” – not a moment back nor a second forward – is where all suffering ends and abundant joy lies.
